Refrigerator and Jewelry (Part 2)

What did my refrigerator and jewelry making have in common?
As you may know, I (the wife) fell behind (way behind) in crafting our earrings for our "Out of the Box" Earrings Challenge. Once again one of those "little" unexpected issues called "life" aided in the beginning of my getting behind.

What happened?
Our refrigerator went out.
The fan motor in the freezer stopped working.
The good thing is that we did happen to find it in time to save all the food by moving it to the refrigerator in our (detached) garage. At first it didn't seem too bad going back and forth for everything that you think you would possible need for each meal (in our case 2 breakfast trips, 1 lunch and 1 dinner) and then back after each one but, after about 2 days..."What a week of "extra" exercise!" LOL...especially, when you set down to your meal and realize you need ketchup, salad dressing, etc that you forgot to grab while you were out there...even more extra trips, lol! ;o)

So, where am I on the "Out of the Box" Earrings Challenge?

"I" FINALLY got all caught up in making our earrings. "YEA me!" ;o)
However, getting the pictures taken (rainy weather), editing them and getting them posted to the album has been a bit of a challenge. It would go much better if the weather would cooperate! ;o)

The weather did cooperate long enough for my husband to watch his payment in progress (LOL) as "I" (with just a little help) spent an entire day painting.
Was it the garage?

No but, it took an entire afternoon...more time away from my earring making, lol! However, I was a bit glad that the painting of this bench was FINALLY getting done! ;o) This iron bench was my first anniversary gift from my husband. He bought it from and antique store that was going out of business in a small town near where we live.

This was after sanding and primer.
(Nice props, huh?) ;o)
Another view ;o)
(Gotta' love those 5 gallon buckets sit'n around everywhere!)
My little helper...
for about 15 seconds! ;o)
Of course, the almost finished picture.
I still need to find the time to make a cushion for it...
another item added to the "To Do List" . ;o)

So, the BIG question...

What did my refrigerator and jewelry making have in common?
While the repair guy was looking over the refrigerator, he advised us to change this copper line out located in the back of our refrigerator (waterline to the ice maker). I couldn't tell ya..."change it out to what"...because when I seen what he was talking about...my brain CLICKED! I had one of my "OH~MY~GOODNESS" moments! Why hadn't I realized that line in the "MANY" times it has been pulled out to clean...UGH!!! I then wonder why my husband had not thought of that sooner, too but, I guess he can't think of everything! LOL! ;o) I couldn't tell you what the repair guy shared to it out to because my brain went into design mode! ;o) This copper line will make some AWESOME looking bracelets, don't ya' think???
Of course, when I get my "Out of the Box" Earrings caught up! ;o)

Thanks for participating, ladies! Stay tuned as there will be more chances to win our handmade items! ;o)

  1. I know how you feel about "re-purposing" the copper from your fridge. I'm using copper from our old hot water system. lol

Linda, that is pretty cool...would love to see some pieces you have crafted. I hope to share some items soon from my "treasure" found behind the refrigerator. ;o)
